From 1987 to 1989, I worked as the Director of Development for Second City Entertainment. In those two short years we developed and produced two specials, three pilots and 75 episodes! (I also served as Co-Producer on two of the pilots.) Andrew Alexander, owner of The Second City had permanent jet lag flying from Toronto to Chicago to Los Angeles in a never-ending loop. Sharing Executive Producer duties on of these shows with Andrew Alexander, was former ICM agent, Michael Rollens. The acting talent for all these shows were culled from the various theatres. And it was really a blast working with people like Bonnie Hunt, Ryan Stiles, Mike Myers, Linda Kash, Debra McGrath, Ken Campbell... Many of them are fast becoming today's screen stars. I love it when I'm channel surfing and there they are! |

The cast of Life As We Know It. They look really happy, even at three in the morning. |

All the material came from Second City sketches, normally performed on an empty stage. Here in Thirties Something we re-created a 1930s gangster look. |

When you're shooting in the wee hours of the morning you pull the crew in as extras. In this scene for the Flashback Bar & Grill are from left: myself (co-producer), Diane Williams (editor) and Marina Muhlfriedal (co-producer). |
